Barista/all rounder (casual)
We are a small start-up coffee shop seeking to create a welcoming, diverse and supportive environment where you feel at home and nostalgic at the same time. We aim to achieve this by creating a retro and iconic vibe featuring known pop culture references.
To be successful as part of our team the individual must be able to be consistent across all areas, especially in the preparation and making of food and beverages. Skills such as methodical thinking and actions and following detailed directions and recipe cards are highly regarded. As well as knowledge of food health and safety procedures. Training will be provided, however previous experience is essential.
Barista Responsibilities:
* Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments - on the occasion the all around person is away/busy.
* Preparing foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods (on occasion as above) and grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and calling out customers names for takeaway orders.
* Packaging food and beverages for sale.
* Cleaning and restocking work, emptying trash, and sanitising equipment and utensils.
* Learning about brewing methods, and beverage blends.
* Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases behind the counter.
* Working as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
* Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
Barista Requirements:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Food Safety Supervisor Course (not obligatory, but desired)
* Ability to do milk art (very desired - if demonstrated on interview, it leads to a slight increase on pay)
* Willingness to learn methodical ways of preparing and brewing different types of coffee.
* Exceptional ability to follow recipe cards step by step
* Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service preferred.
* Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation.
* Exceptional listening and communication skills.
* Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.
* Availability to work around peak hours, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
* A polite, engaging personality.
* Commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
* Willingness to work as part of a collaborative, efficient team.
* Awareness and understanding of mental health conditions (not required but desired)
Pay:
- Pay will be in accordance to the current fast food award
